Gecko Materials wants to sell you the next Velcro | TechCrunch
Gecko Materials has developed a super-strong dry-adhesive that can hold a full wine bottle with just a pinky finger, inspired by gecko feet. It's a new take on Velcro that sticks without residue.
Gecko Materials raised $2 million in seed funding in under 36 hours and has early customers including Ford, Pacific Gas & Electric, and NASA, with over $700,000 in revenue in 2023.
The company aims to reach $75 million in annual recurring revenue in 5 years and is raising another funding round to scale operations, as it works to bring down the current 10x cost compared to other adhesives.
Founder Capella Kerst is passionate about making local manufacturing more sustainable and bringing Gecko Materials' technology worldwide, with the goal of it becoming a household name like Velcro.
